Tough and Comfortable: Commentary on Wrangler Jeans Ad

I found this ad in my Sports Illustrated magazine. It takes up a full page. It has two pictures of Brett Favre on the right side, and three pairs on jeans with the Wrangler trademark on the left. There is some writing underneath the jeans describing how they are tough, comfortable, and guaranteed.

Wrangler jeans have always been portrayed to cowboys. The jeans usually tend to take the form of the persons body. When you look at a cowboy, you can almost guarantee that he is wearing wranglers. Wranglers are very durable but yet they are very comfortable to wear.

This ad uses Brett Favre to show that not just cowboys can wear wranglers. And that not all wrangler jeans are tight against your legs. Brett Favre is a big icon in the NFL and is a good person to model these jeans. Favre is known as one of the toughest quarterbacks in the NFL, and yet he has one of the kindest hearts and is one of the easiest guys to get along with. That exemplifies the jeans very well. The jeans are tough when its time to get down to business, but when its time to relax, they are just as comfortable too.

The Wrangler brand has been around for a long time as has Favre. He has contemplated retirement but in his heart he wants to push forward and keep playing. In the ad they show Brett playing football in Wrangler relaxed fit jeans, and then they show another picture of Brett sitting down, relaxing. I found this ad in my Sports Illustrated magazine, which makes the audience of this ad people who are interested in sports and fans of Brett Favre.

I am not a fan of Brett Favre myself but I believe he is the best person to have in this ad. He is tough, he is strong, and he is a kind person who is relaxed when he is not playing. When he is playing he plays hard and never quits. I think that is why Wrangler chose to use Favre in their ad. Since it is in SI, the people reading the magazine probably know that about Favre and can make the relation between Favre and Wrangler jeans.

Chevy Fuel Solutions: the Silverado Hybrid

The audience of this blog includes all those who are looking to improve the economy and are sick of the extremely high gas prices. A lot of motor companies are trying to make evolutionary changes to their vehicles by making hybrids. The purpose is to inform their readers that they are in the process of making a Chevy Silverado a hybrid vehicle. They want to get news of their new product out there, so consumers know they will have the option of a cheaper fueled vehicle.

Ed Peper says they are making hybrid trucks and SUVs because people love and need trucks to function in America, and they want to lessen carbon emissions and improve fuel economy.

Commenting is allowed and many people have added their insight on this issue. There are 47 comments left by readers of this blog. The design of the blog is pretty simple. The layout isn't any thing vancy that takes away from the purpose of the blog. The world view is focused towards those who want to lower carbon emissions and the use of oil needed to make gasoline.

This blog is different from personal blogs because more people read and comment on corporate ones than they do personal. I think that corporate blogs are more open to criticism than personal. But they are also the same in many ways.

More Than a Memory

Garth Brooks is one of the greatest entertainers of all time. Garth has been known for his high-energy, crazy performances at concerts. Since childhood, I have always idolized Garth. I have always said, if he ever came back to do another concert I would be there, no matter what. Come to find out, Garth did nine concerts in Kansas City. He was originally planning on doing one concert, but it sold out in less than four minutes, he kept adding more and more. That goes to show you how many people love Garth Brooks and how good he really is. I made it to one of the concerts, and just as I expected, it was the greatest concert ever. It was filled with energy and emotion.

He has recently came out with three new songs, after taking a break for while. One of the songs is called "More Than a Memory." In this song, Garth sings about losing a loved one that he cared so much about and he cannot get over her.

I really enjoy listening to this song, because I can relate to it since I recently broke up with my girlfriend of three years. In the chorus of the song Garth sings, "Dailing six numbers just to hang up, drive across town just to see if she's home, waking a friend in the dead of the night, just to hear him say it's gonna be alright." This is my favorite part of the song. I have gone through all of that and it seems like Garth knew exactly how i was feeling. The song also talks about talking to God and the toll depression takes on the mind and body.

The concert lasted for four hours and it felt like it just flew by. When Garth sang "More Than a Memory," which was only released two weeks before, the entire stadium chimed in and sang along. When the song ended, Garth started to cry, showing his love for his fans and all the support he still has after all these years.

How Bout Them 'Boys

Last night the showdown began between the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers. This game was said to be bigger than the Colts/Patriots game. Both teams were 10-1 coming into the game that was at Texas Stadium in Irving, TX. Many made predictions before the game that the Packers were going to come out on top. But early in the 2nd quarter, Favre injured his right elbow and dislocated his left shoulder.

Tony Romo played flawlessly as he picked apart the defensive backs of Green Bay. Romo hasn't even completed 2 complete seasons as a starter, and look how good he is. He has been picking defenses apart all year and that is why the Cowboys are 2nd in the NFL with an 11-1 record. This is the best start in franchise history.

Texas Stadium has never been a place Brett Favre likes to go to. Throughout Favre's career he is now 0-9 at Texas Stadium. The Packers are down, but not out. Their next three opponents have losing records.

The Cowboys still have a lot of aspects of the game they can work on. I will be looking forward to seeing the Cowboys and the Packers butt heads again in the NFC Championship game.

Expect Good Deer Season

I found an article in the Des Moines Register that I found very interesting. It talks about opening deer season, and why it should be a good season this year. There are over 100,000 Iowa deer hunters this year and they are all looking to get the “big one.” There are two seasons and the first one begins this Saturday.

“Weather models predict temperatures a bit above the normal highs in the mid-30s across central Iowa,” states Steve Teachout of the National Weather Service in Johnston. Juli Probasco-Sowers, the author of this articles states that when the weather is particularly nasty, fewers deer are killed because fewer hunters make it out into the cold.

Being a deer hunting myself, I can state from experience that hunting is a lot more fun when the weather cooperates. Also as the article states, it seems like there are not as many deer in the northwestern part of Iowa as there are in other parts. I am sure people in other parts of the state say the same thing; I guess you just have to find the right place to hunt.

The number of deer killed from 2005-2006 were higher than those killed in the 2006-2007 season. Over 50 percent of the deer killed were does. Most hunters are looking for those big bucks with the huge racks, but when it comes down to it, you take what you can get. I am looking forward to hunting this year, and hope to get that big one!

Police Have No Suspect in Taylor Killing

I found an article from the Omaha World-Herald that discusses the killer of football player Sean Taylor of the Washington Redskins. Taylor was a safety for the ‘Skins. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Matt Sedensky reports that police say he was shot to death during a random burglary. One or more intruders broke into Taylor’s home in Miami and were confronted by Taylor. Taylor was shot in the leg and ultimately bled to death.

The other players of the Redskins, fans, and old friends embraced Taylor’s family when they got the news. Hundreds mourned around a memorial with the number 21, Taylor’s jersey number. Many thought back on memories with Taylor, and others were speechless. Taylor was portrayed in the media as an arrogant, aggressive athlete. Arriana Marion, a high school classmate of Taylor said, “It's sad that everybody thinks he's this aggressive and mouthy athlete, He was really just a phenomenal person."

It is amazing to see how many people someone actually touches, even if that person doesn’t know that they made a difference in so many people’s lives. Life is precious and many people take that for granted. Surprises come at you fast and sometimes you aren’t prepared for them. So make the best of your life, and live it to the fullest. Don’t ever look back.

Labyrinth

I have never heard of the movie Labyrinth and did not really know what to expect. The movie starts off with Sarah being late and her step-mom getting mad at her. Her parents were going out and she was suppose to watch her little brother Toby. Sarah was so upset when her parents left that she made a wish. "I wish the goblins could come take you away right now," Sarah demanded! The goblins took Toby away, and once Sarah realized he was actually gone, she wanted him back. The Goblin King came and told her she had 13 hours to find Toby otherwise he would become a goblin.
When Sarah got to the entrance Hoggle showed her the way in and warned her "things aren't always as they seem." When she enters through the doors, she encounters a brick maze that seems to be completely straight. As she works her way through the maze, it keeps changing on her. Sarah falls underground and finds Hoggle again. He starts to lead her towards the castle. The Goblin King sees this and decides to pay a visit. Sarah said the maze was easy so the Goblin King makes things harder by turning the clock ahead giving Sarah less time.
Once they get to the hedge maze, Hoggle says he is done helping her; well Sarah stole his jewels on his hip and he changed his mind. These creatures say "sometimes to go forward, you must go back." Hoggle runs away while Sarah meets a new friend Ludo. Sarah and Ludo end up in the Bog of Eternal Stench and have no way out since the bridge caves in. Ludo calls up rocks so they can pass across the river of stench. Once they get past the Bog of Eternal Stench, Hoggle gives Sarah a peach that makes her forget what she is trying to do.
Sarah is at a costume party and the people there are dressed like those at Labyrinth. Sarah and the Goblin King are dancing when at midnight she busts a mirror and is back in Labyrinth. They make it to the castle and encounter a few problems. They are attacked by an army of goblins. Ludo uses his power of calling rocks to defeat the goblins and make their way into the castle.
Sarah needs to face the Goblin King alone so the others stay behind while she enters the staircase maze. Everything is upside down and sideways and is difficult for Sarah to get to Toby.
Sarah defeats the Goblin King and her and Toby are returned to their home with Toby sound asleep. Sarah gave Toby her beloved Lancelot. It is no longer storming outside. The movie ends with Sarah having a party in her room with all her friends from Labyrinth.
I found this movie to be pretty strange. It wasn't a bad movie, just different. It was humorous and it displays children imagination pretty good.
